This Low Vision Network program is easy to get involved in. It is already in place and there is no fundraising required. Getting involved provides a meaningful, easy way to help someone in your community who needs help.
Make Community Outreach presentations at senior centers, senior housing, schools and health fairs (a Power Point Presentation and associated script will be provided)
Make appointments with local Ophthalmologists and Optometrists to encourage them to refer Low Vision patients to our network
Help patients make appointments with Low Vision providers
Provide transportation to and from appointments if patient can’t drive
Club can provide financial assistance for patients in need
Contact your District rep and ask that a presentation be made to your club. The presentation will explain volunteer opportunities like those referenced above.
Specific training will be delivered for every volunteer area including HIPAA compliance, basic sighted guide technique and other courses.
If the club is interested in volunteering, contact your District rep who will tap one or more of our other volunteers to work cases in your community.
